The West Seattle Amateur Radio Club is your best-bet for social contact or technical assistance from the local hams in West Seattle. The club has a rich history stretching back to the 1930's. We offer weekly radio nets on three club repeaters using the club call of W7AW and hold monthly breakfasts in West Seattle. Our membership represents decades of experience, are active POTA, SOTA, GOTA, Field Day, and contest participants using voice, CW and various digital modes. And, we can provide a wide range technical and operational support.
We have an evolving MESH system with monthly meetings, and a new winlink node. Our repeaters are located at Highpoint, the highest point in the Seattle and affording 360-degree coverage for the Puget Sound region.
Join us on the third Saturday of each month for our monthly in-person club meeting. Visitors are welcome to all club events. See W7AW Calendar and click the individual event for latest details.
Join us for the Elmer's Breakfast & Help Session the first Saturday each month at 8 am at Great American Bar and Diner, 4752 California Ave SW, Seattle, 98116 (map).
Join us for "HAM JAM" on the 1st Monday of the month from 5:45 pm to 7:00 pm. Here is an opportunity for non-members and members to meet and socialize. Bring your questions and learn about amateur radio, the club, and how to get licensed. Everyone will be given the opportunity to learn how to participate in the W7AW, Monday Night Net and actually key up a microphone and call in. The venue is the Center For Active Living (formerly named the Senior Center of West Seattle), 4217 SW Oregon St., Seattle, WA 98116 on the 2nd floor (Gmap). Go through the door and up the stairs or take the elevator on your right to the second floor.
The club offers licensing classes to become a ham radio operator. Classes are done online in Sept/Oct with Technician being offered first and followed by the General. Each session is followed by an in-person ARRL VE licensing exam.
The West Seattle Amateur Radio Club supports local community preparedness. Seattle's citizens should be preparing for a range of events from winter storms to serious earthquakes. Our members practice with local Community Hubs to relay information to and from the City of Seattle Emergency Operations Center. All members are encouraged to work with Seattle's Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS). Join us in helping West Seattle create a disaster resilient community.W7AW Club Repeaters Locator: CN87TM49OQ (map, sat, terrain):
