“What a Deal” Extended to Year’s End

Last month, I wrote about an inexpensive DSP development platform: the Texas Instruments TMS320C5535 eZdsp board. The development kit was on sale at the TI eStore for $55 until October 24. After that, the price was going back up to $99.

But Rick Simpson, K3IND, just alerted me that the special $55 price is now good through December 31, so head on over to the C5535 eZdsp USB Stick Development Kit webpage and order the kit before New Year’s Day.

In EDN

Dale Blomgren, WB0KFM, e-mailed me that the November 3 issue of EDN has a “great front cover article about ham radio.”

According to EDN, “Ham radio today differs greatly from that of past years, but it still offers a fascinating way to explore electronics. Here’s a look at how it has changed and what it has to offer both old hands and newcomers alike.”

Still Going Galena

Last week’s “Going Galena” motivated two of you to inform me about other related radio websites.

• Joe Eisenberg, K0NEB, recommended The Xtal Set Society, whose website features crystal radio sets designed by Phil Anderson, W0XI, of Kantronics fame.
• Dean Lewis, W9WGV, suggested the website of the Maritime Radio Historical Society, which has been restoring and keeping an historic West Coast radiotelegraph station (KPH, now KSM) on the air.
