New England Amateur Radio Inc. (NEAR) is a non-profit corporation operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
New England Amateur Radio Incorporated's purpose is to promote education and growth of amateur radio as a STEM activity (science, technology, engineering, and math), as a communications hobby, and as support for emergency preparedness and public service.
Our skilled and experienced staff can help your school, scout group, MRC/CERT team, or other educational and public service groups with:
- A team of volunteer examiners to provide exam sessions.
- Grants for youth to cover their fees at exam sessions.
- Advisors to help you start your own amateur radio club at your organization.
- Educators to give classes for your technician, general, and amateur extra level candidates.
- Experienced advice on equipment purchases to maximize your investment in amateur radio.
- Equipment donation and lending program.
- Merit and need based scholarships for education.
- Facilitate the collaboration of New England area clubs toward a common goal of education and promotion of amateur radio.
- Introducing more youth to amateur radio as a hobby and STEM science.
