Its annual subscription ($497 per year) puts it out of range of some who are casually interested in the subject of BPL, although its cost is in line with many industry specialty publications. A free trial is available. They also feature a Resource Directory pointing to contact inforamtion for most of the industry.

United Powerline Council (UPLC)
Web: www.uplc.utc.org/
Description: The United Power Line Council (UPLC) is an industry consortium of PLC system producers and utility industry customers (and potential customers). They are a child organization of the United Telecom Council. Their BPL information is intended to promote BPL to electric utility industries, not to present utilities with both pro and con information about BPL. UPLC's statements about Amateur Radio have generally been confrontational and polarizing.

LonWorks powerline communication is used world-wide, for example for Home Automation, Street Lighting, Energy Management and Utility Metering. Related standards can be found on [5]
[edit] OPERA
OPERA (Open PLC European Research Alliance) is a R&D Project with funding from the European Commission. It aims to improve the existing systems, develop PLC service, and standardise systems.
[edit] POWERNET
POWERNET is a R&D Project with funding from the European Commission. It aims to develop and validate a ‘plug and play’ Cognitive Broadband over Power Lines (CBPL) communications equipment that meet the regulatory requirements concerning electro-magnetic radiations and can deliver high data rates while using with low transmit power spectral density and working at low signal to noise ratio.
[edit] Universal Powerline Association (UPA)
The Universal Powerline Association (UPA) aligns industry leaders in the global Powerline Communications (PLC) market and covers all markets and both access and an in-home PLC technology to ensure a level playing field for the deployment of interoperable and coexisting PLC products to the benefit of consumers worldwide. UPA promotes products based on the UPA Digital Home Standard for home networking applications and on the Opera standard for BPL Power line access applications.
CEPCA
Consumer Electronics Powerline Communications Alliance (CEPCA) (Sony, Mitsubishi and Panasonic) is developing a standard to realize coexistence between various Powerline technologies, available today. [3]
