WHAT
This Tsunami Exercise encourages operators to send amateur radio messages to tactical address TSUNAMI during Tsunami Preparedness Week. The exercise encourages radio operators to improve their all-hazards preparedness and practice radio operations. This exercise is a volunteer effort.

WHEN
Saturday, March 29, 2025, is the intended exercise date. Alternate dates: We welcome messages submission during Tsunami Preparedness Week from March 22 - March 30, 2025.
WHO
All interested amateur radio operators are welcome to participate.
The Tsunami Exercise is a collaboration of ARES LAX Northeast, San Diego ARES , Hawaii ARES, San Joaquin Valley Section, Whatcom County (WA) ACS/ARES, Snohomish County (WA) ACS , WLNET-OE, Winlink Treff and the Emcomm Training Organization.
HOW
The exercise asks radio operators to complete 6 message tasks and send them to tactical address TSUNAMI:
- an ICS-214 Activity Log,
- a Winlink Check-in,
- USGS Did-you-feel-it? (DYFI) report,
- Welfare Bulletin Board Message,
- ICS-213 General Message, and
- Winlink Check-out.

WHERE
You may operate from your home shack or from a deployed location.
You may use any mode and band, including Telnet.
We encourage operators to use RF.
OPERATING ASSUMPTIONS
This exercise assumes:
- basic familiarity with Winlink;
- the latest Winlink Standard Templates are installed;
- operators can operate and fulfill tasks on their own accord;
- operators are able and willing to follow basic instructions and complete tasks.

TsunamiZone is organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program, United States Geological Survey, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the Statewide California Earthquake Center to prepare the whole community for major earthquakes and the tsunamis they can cause, and practice how to protect our communities when they happen.
One benefit of registering is that participants receive a "Certificate of Participation" from TsunamiZone.

To all SV radio amateurs ARRL SV BULLETIN 003
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, ARRL Sacramento Valley Section will hold a Section Wide Net, first on the WD6AXM repeater atop Sutter Buttes near Yuba City on 146.085 MHz, plus 600 kHz offset, tone 127.3 Hz. Please wait for Net Control's specific call for the 2 meter ARRL SV Section Net once the 7 pm Yuba-Sutter ARES net has closed, usually around 7:20-7:30 pm Pacific Time.
For those who are unable to access the WD6AXM repeater, our 80 meter HF net will commence on 3880 kHz LSB (+/- 3 kHz QRM) IMMEDIATELY after the VHF SV net signs off. Those who check in to the VHF net are encouraged to join the HF net if they are able. If you do not hear net control over your HF radio, please check in anyway and listen for net control to acknowledge you via the Half Moon Bay WebSDR at http://websdr1.kfsdr.com:8901/?tune=3880lsb&zoom=6 .
All ARRL members, club presidents, Section appointees, and all appropriately licensed radio amateurs are encouraged to check in to the ARRL Sacramento Valley Section nets. Section News and items of regional and national interest to all radio amateurs will be the topics of discussion.
ARRL Sacramento Valley Section Nets are conducted, only when announced via Official Bulletin and on www.arrlsacvalley.org, on the third Thursday of such months. All Sacramento Valley Section radio amateurs are welcome to check into our ARRL Section nets. The nets carry announcements of interest to our section and test our section-wide station communication capabilities.
